Mensa is for those who rejoice in the exercise of the mind. If you enjoy mental challenges and revel in the interplay of ideas, American Mensa is an organization that will stretch your mind and expand your horizons. Mensa is an international society that has one - and only one - unique qualification for membership (Ok, you have to pay the dues, too.): you must score in the top 2% of the population on a standardized intelligence test.

Utah Mensa is the local chapter of American Mensa, Ltd., the High IQ Society, serving the great state of Utah.

The word mensa means "table" in Latin; similarly, mens means "mind" and mensis means "month." The name "Mensa" is reminiscent of "mind, table, month," which suggests a monthly meeting of minds around a table. The organization is a round-table society, where race, color, creed, national origin, age, politics, and educational or social background are irrelevant. Officially, Mensa's stated purposes are "to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence; and to provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members."
